In 2023, Erwin Sperisen’s Lawyers, Florian Baier and Giorgio Campa, obtained a ruling against Switzerland at the European Court of Human Rights because Sperisen had not received a fair trial from the biased Geneva judiciary.
Yet this seems to impress the federal judges very little. They continue to take their time. For 15 months, the appeal against the latest Geneva conviction has been left unanswered in Lausanne. The situation is delicate: since neither direct involvement in the crime nor direct intent could be proven against Sperisen, it was agreed that the police chief must have protected the alleged perpetrators. However, all of them were definitively acquitted. Can one protect an innocent person?
